4.
First Aid Measures
Inhalation :
Minor inhalation - unlikely to be harmful.
Major inhalation (unlikely) - seek medical advice.

Skin :
Minor splashes - remove from skin with suitable skin cleanser and wash with soap and water.
Major contact - drench immediately with large quantities of cold water. Do NOT remove any adhering bitumen and seek medical advice.

Eyes :
Irrigate thoroughly with cold water and seek medical advice.

Ingestion :
(Unlikely) - seek medical advice.

5.
Fire-Fighting Measures
Bitumen Emulsion will not burn under normal circumstances.

6.
Accidental Release Measures
If no risk is present, shut off leak.
Contain and absorb with sand or soil until set solid, then dispose of as in paragraph 13.

7.
Handling and Storage
Handling :
Wear heat resistant gloves and overalls and protective footwear. Protect eyes from splashes by wearing goggles or visor.
K1-70 is normally supplied and applied in bulk at 75°C - 85°C. If heating is required, it should be done with recirculation. Under NO circumstances should the temperature exceeding 90°C (boiling/frothing).

Storage :
If K1-70 has been stored for more than a few hours it should be recirculated before use.

8.
Exposure Controls / Personal Protection Exposure Limit Values
There are no occupational exposure limits listed in EH40.

Recommended Protective Clothing :
Wear heat resistant gloves and overalls and protective footwear. Protect eyes from splashes by wearing goggles or visor. It is recommended that the spraybar operator wears an activated charcoal mask during the spraying operation.

Toxicological Information
Acute Health Hazards and Advice
Exposure to K1-70 is not hazardous but skin contact should be avoided. Scalding can occur because K1-70 is normally handled at 75°C - 85°C. K1-70 is irritating to eyes. If eye contact occurs irrigate with cold water and seek medical advice.

12.
Ecological Information
Minimum hazard but high concentrations of emulsions may harm fish (by bitumen blocking gills).
